Quality has been at the heart of the Military Technological College (MTC) since its inception. The College has been keen to provide high-quality education for its students, by working on monitoring, evaluating, the updating of programmes, and conforming to the highest international standards. In addition, the Quality Assurance Framework defines the general rules and procedures that in turn guarantee the quality of academic services provided by the MTC teaching staff, through monitoring, evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning services and other related support services.
The College’s Quality Assurance Committee is responsible for ensuring academic quality assurance, through periodic meetings that discuss and work to implement policies, regulations and procedures in addition to overseeing the requirements of external bodies for academic accreditation and auditing, whether local or international; for example, the requirements of the University of Portsmouth (MTC Academic partner) and the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority and Quality Assurance in Education (OAAAQAE).
The Quality Assurance Department at the MTC is responsible for liaising with various parties involved in ensuring the quality of the MTC graduate and that of the academic delivery. The Department is in charge of matters ranging from review of assessment artefacts to the management of various policy documents used in the college. The department is also in involved in the enhancement of quality of academic delivery by conducting lectures and awareness workshops as well as making sure policies and procedures in force are adhered to. The Department promotes and endeavours to establish a culture of quality in the college whereby ‘Quality is Everyone’s Business, not Just a Select Few’.
Following a successful Stage 1 Quality Audit by the OAAA, and in addition to its affiliation with the University of Portsmouth and accreditation by UK Professional Engineering Institutions, MTC aims to achieve accreditation of its suite of programmes by the OAAA by 2023.
