MSc in Mechanical Engineering
Overview: The MSc in Mechanical Engineering is designed to develop advanced technical expertise in key areas such as materials, computational fluid dynamics, control systems, renewable energy, structural mechanics, and additive manufacturing. The program aims to prepare graduates to solve complex engineering challenges in sectors such as aerospace, defence, maritime, energy, and manufacturing, while promoting innovation and ethical decision-making in line with Oman’s Vision 2040.
Structure:
- Qualification: MSc in Mechanical Engineering
- Awarding Body: Military Technological College
- Mode of Study: Full-time, On-campus (Afternoon classes)
- Duration: One calendar year
- Credits: 180 total (60 per semester + 60 for dissertation)
Schedule:
- Fall Semester (Nov–March): 3 Modules (60 Credits)
- Spring Semester (April– Aug): 3 Modules (60 Credits)
- Summer Semester (Sept–Oct): Dissertation (60 Credits)
Entry Requirements:
- Omani Nationals with a minimum grade of 2:2 degree (Second Class, BSc or BEng), Good, GPA 2.7, B”, or equivalent / or international equivalent degree approved by MOHERI with equivalency certificate in Mechanical Engineering disciplines.
- Reference letter and personal statement (for civilian applicants)
- Reference letter, personal statement, and NOC (for Ministry of Defense applicants)
- Academic IELTS 6.0 (with no component below 5.5) or equivalent
Note: For students with an IELTS result (or equivalent) 0.5 bands below their entry requirement have the opportunity to undergo a pre-sessional English programme conducted by the Military Technological College (6 to 12 weeks) to top up the IELTS score and to meet the degree requirement accordingly.
