The General Foundation Program (GFP) is designed to prepare students for their MTC Engineering studies. Our GFP precedes the first formal year of Engineering, with four main areas of study:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Information Technology
- Physics
These four areas have been selected to provide a comprehensive and intellectual base that is relevant to your subsequent Engineering studies at MTC.
Depending on your progress, you may take the GFP over one or two years.
- To give all engineering students a good foundation in Physics before embarking on the engineering courses/pathways.
- To help students develop their cultural and historical learning styles in line with international standards which have English as the main vehicle for delivery.
- To ensure that individual students’ learning needs are met through guided correct use of Information and communication technologies (such as specialist practical equipment, Virtual Learning Environments, PCs, etc.) and other library resources.
- To encourage all students to gain confidence in making use of current scientific techniques and processes based on the use of the latest information technology, hardware and software.
Class attendance policy
- Students must attend a minimum of 80% of class lectures.
- Official warnings will be given for unapproved absence when this reaches 10, 15 and 20% of the total number of days.
- Students will not be allowed to sit the final exam if their absence exceeds 20%. This exam will be regarded as a fail.
- If this unapproved absence exceeds 20%, students are liable to be expelled from MTC.
