The Military Technological College hosted the ceremony for the test launch of the unmanned aerial vehicle (Sahm) as part of the “Jisr” event, organized by Ibn Firnas Company in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of MTCIT. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence; Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces; several commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces; several Their Excellencies; senior officers; representatives of government entities; and several invited guests.
The unmanned aerial vehicle was launched from the premises of the Military Technological College in Muscat Governorate, heading towards Wilayat Al Jabal Al Akhdar. This project is the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman, featuring a locally assembled unmanned aerial vehicle that contributes to supporting missions and transporting supplies.
